28th Feb - Heroes

Today's Challenge is... Heroes - who do you look up to or aim to be like in your life? I want to see who your hero is. It could be a celebrity, someone from the community, a family member or anyone! You may not have one, if you don't, it could be your child's/or other family member's hero.

Here are the design team's hero's...

Ewelina
I decided to take a different approach (as usual) on the challenge and focus on a group of heroes rather than an individual. MOTHERS - they're the biggest heroines the world has ever seen. I wanted to create a bright and full of colour page. To find out more details about how I created this layout, please visit my blog.

Flora
Who else could be my heroes than my parents? They are always so good to me and they have been giving me so much. I wanted to show them my gratitude a bit with this huge XO cross stitch. It took a lot hours of work from designing to stitching. But definitely worth every minutes of work.
Close-ups of the layout on my blog.

Jinny
I couldn't resist scrapping pics of my family's World Series celebrations for this one.  Our Kansas City Royals are not only the 2015 Champions, but after 30 years of waiting for that trophy, they will, no doubt, be our heroes for a long time to come.

Kerry
For this challenge I scrapped a favourite photo of my two hero's, my husband and my father. They would both head to the pub on Christmas Day leaving me and mum to finish 'The Big Meal' but come back home quite merry and very silly!

Lydia

I focused on a photo of two of my best friends dressing up as super hero's. I quite like how my layout turned out even though this challenge was exactly a challenge for me. I used Amy Tangerines "Finders Keepers "collection. To find more close ups of this layout pop over to my blog Lydia's Crafts n' Creations.

Rachel
I created this layout using Bella BLVD Family Forever collection. With three sons who have a wonderful father I knew immediately what hero I was going to scrap. I will document on the journal card,  but for the purpose of a DT layout I have left it blank. Head to my blog for close up photos.

My hero is my mom.My mom and dad said operating the restaurant since I was a kid
It not always has been well, so there were difficult days operating without hiring employees. She hath done a lot of work until late at night. I can not seem to like my mother. She lived hard for the family. Whether it is a lot of suffering now battling lung cancer.I do not know how much my mom could live a better life. But my mom is a hero forever in my heart.

Susanne

Recently receiving a treasure trove of family pictures, Susanne remembers herhusband's grandmother.  Before she was a wife, mother and grandmother, she served as a nurse in World War I. Should would not consider herself a hero; she was just doing her part in those tough times.

Yasmina
I used a lot of Prima Marketing's products on my layout. It is about my one and only Hero... my husband. I am in my mixed media time.
On  my blogthere are some close up photos and also a video tutorial.

Didn't the design team do a great job!

You have until 13th March to link up your entries.
Happy Scrapping!

14th Feb - Sketch

Today challenge is a...
...Sketch - it was inspired by Kerry's hopes and dreams challenge layout. A little twist as it Valentine's day please add a heart in somewhere!

And a big welcome to the new design team, here are their amazing takes on the sketch.

This picture was taken in Gallipoli (Italy) last summer. I was there with my friends and we had so much fun! I wanted to create a bright and simple layout to document our last day there. "Amiche" in italian means "friends" :)

Ewelina

For this layout I wanted to use the typewriter that I received as a long-desired gift. I typed random letters all over the scraps of paper that I used a cluster under the photo. I might have 'cheated' a little bit as this way I managed to get away with not using a title ;)

You can find more close-ups on my blog: ewelinkag.wordpress.com

On the occasion of Valentine's Day I decided to make a layout about us. I chose a selfie shoot from December and made a 4x4" collage from it. I like to document our sweet crazy moments, these are the best. On the layout I made a layering under the photo and just added a big wood veneer title and lots of tiny embellishments.

As this sketch was inspired by a previous layout of mine I thought I would turn the sketch to achieve a different look to this layout. The fact that I have totally 'Girlied' it up makes it look totally different anyway!

Lydia

I had a lot of fun using this months sketch and love how my layout turned out. I don't do the traditional Valentine's day layouts so this one is with a photo of myself and one of my best friends. I used the beautiful Crate Paper 'Hello Love' collection.

Pop over to my bog to check out some close ups of my layout:

Rachel

I loved this sketch and with Valentines Day just around the corner I had to do a 'love' themed layout. I have used Crate Paper's Hello Love collection. I have used lots of layering, sewing and thrown in a splash of gold for that wow factor.

Head over to my blog for more close up photos:

I mirror-flipped the sketch to suit the black and white photo I wanted to use. The odds and ends of supplies I used were gathered from my counterfeit stash kit.  I added some subtle tone-on-tone background stamping to reinforce the diagonal flow of my layout.

Yasmina

A very beautiful sketch and I was inspired by my first daughter's photo. I'm in my mixed media time :)
After putting some gesso on the background, i used Texture paste Platinum from Prima marketing , sprays from Tattered Angels and stamps. Papers are from a french company Les Papiers de Pandore.

I think the new design team rocked this sketch! We would love to see what you create using our sketch, please link up your layout in the side bar, you have until 13th March to do so.
Happy Scrapping!

Introducing the New Design Team

Please welcome six brand new design team members! They will bring you lots of new inspiration for our challenges along with our remaining DT members Elisabetta, Kerry, Jinny and Seungeun.

Our new members are......

Ewelina

My name is Ewelina Gryglak. I am Polish but I have moved here and lived in Yorkshire for over 12 years now. I’ve been scrapbooking for a little over a year now. I have been lucky enough to be chosen to work for/with some very talented ladies on Design Teams for The Studio Challenge and Scrap Africa.
I love working with mixed media; mainly 12x12 layouts but I also work on canvas, decorate frames and boxes, make cards and ATCs - I love to expand my horizons and embark on new creative journeys so I will work with/on anything. :) I love layers and textures so that is what you can see in my work. My craft-room is full of texture pastes, stencils, paints, inks, embellishments of various type - paper, fabric, veneer.
I also make custom folders and flip books for my penpals, decorate the envelopes and I decorate my planner (it’s still more functional than anything else).

I'd love for you to visit me on my blog or on Facebook - it would be great to chat.
You can find me here:

Flora
I am Flóra Mónika Farkas (Flora) from Hungary-Europe but I live in Slovenia. I was making cards with different techniques since my childhood. I have started to do it more serious since 2014. I passionately scrapbook almost every single day, this became the part of my life. I love these many pretty, lovely things what belongs to scrapbooking. They cheer up my everyday life. I am trendy therefore I discover the new trends, new collections, blogs all the time.
How I would describe my style? Mainly pink. :-) Anyway I think my style is youngish, clean, lovely, more minimal with a tiny romanticism. I am traditional scrapbooker. I like to do 12” and 8.5x11" layouts, cards, mini albums and a bit Project Life. My creations always have a story. In the background there are emotions, memories, important thoughts or feelings and I like to share them through my blog posts.

Lydia

Hi I'm Lydia Gibson, a 14 year old creative teenager who has a huge passion in documenting her everyday. I live with my mum, dad and younger sister in a small country town in Queensland, Australia. I was first introduced to the scrapbooking industry at a young age from my scrapbooking mum, starting with stamping and that's how I got to what I love to do today. I currently love to document my everyday through my interest in photography with Project Life, Traditional 12x12 layouts, mini albums and lots more. I have previously been on Design Teams and I look forward to working with these talented ladies on The Studio Challenges DT.

Susanne

Hello, Susanne here.  I am a wife and mother of 2 grown children, living the empty nest retired life with my husband of 30+ years in Evansville, Indiana.  Originally from St. Louis, I am definitely a Midwestern American gal.  I have been blogging and sharing my scrapbooking online since 2009.  I have been playing with papers and pretties even longer - beginning when my kiddos were very young.  I especially like making up my own kits from my more-than-ample stash.  I scrap mostly 12 x 12 layouts, a few cards and occasional pocket pages too.  I enjoy using challenges to keep my layouts fresh and varied. I hope you will come visit me at my blog or on Facebook, because I would love to chat about scrapbooking with you.

31st January - Texture

Today's challenge is ...

Texture - we want to see your layouts with lots of texture on them!

Here are the design team's texture filled pages...

Jinny
I had so much fun getting messy with gesso, paints, mists, watercolors, and inks for this challenge!  I even dusted off my modeling paste.  Woohoo!  Additionally, I've added texture with stitching, vellum, glossy brads, smooth chipboard, thread, enamel hearts, embossing, a hint of clear Wink of Stella, and more.  So fun!

Kerry
Adding texture is one of things I rarely think about but this challenge has made me search for something a little bit different. I loved the idea (by Marcy Penner) of adding shadow texture with white on white triangles. Adding to that I stitched some colourful lines with hearts and lastly glittered up the plain wooden embellishments. Looking forward to seeing your texture layouts. xx

Seungeun Lee
I am using the gesso and gold paste, embossing, paste, stencils and micro beads expressed the texture. Using die-cut and flowers.I wanted to give the feeling of elegance.

I hope that's inspired you to fill your layouts with texture, if so we would love to see them, please link them up to the side bar.
Thank you to everyone who entered our design team call, we will reveal the new team next Sunday.

Happy scrapping!

17th Jan- Patterned Backgrounds

Good Morning, today challenge is...

Patterned backgrounds - This maybe an easy one for some but I find it hard to use a patterned paper background as I like using lots of patterns on my page so I want to see how you use patterned backgrounds!

Here are the DT layouts...

Elisabetta

this Pinkfresh Studio paper was quite easy to work with. it already has part of the work done for you, so I loved creating this layout!

Kerry.
My daughter is a very girly girl and when I saw her pairing up the pretty skirt with these green and black tights from the dress up box I just had to get a photo! I wouldn't normally use a patterned background but this butterfly paper is so girly I just had to use it for this photo.

JinnyUsing subtle background prints is kind of my thing, so I'm not sure it's fair to call this a challenge for me.  Regardless, I had so much fun using a happy mix of goodies, from a variety of manufacturers, to make this page of my now twelve-year-old when he was in a preschool swim class years ago.

Guest Designer - Sue

I must admit that I used to do all my layouts on PP, but lately have been using white cardstock or subtle background PPs.This paper was quite overpowering, so I used white ink to tone it down.

Dont forget about our Design Team call, if you haven't already entered please do, we are looking for lots of new talent!

You have until 14th Feb to enter January's challenges, there happen to be three this month!
Happy Scrapping!
