16th Dec - Sketch

Morning everyone! It's sketch time again, today Valerie has created this sketch for you to create with.
Here's what the design team created:
Anna
I thought this sketch was just right for this time of year as it looks like a big present so I scrapped a photo of my nephew from last Christmas.

Daphne
As you can see I used two 4x6" photos so everything got BIG on my page along with the big grin of my DH!
I really love sketches which allow me to use my own measurement, the ones that fit with my photos!

Emi

Working with this sketch was so much fun for me!
I used tons of stamps, layers, watercolors and positive energy!
I love this photo, it was taken few weeks ago,
during the celebration of my 18th birthday.
I and my parents,
adorable shot! ;)

Jules
Another fabulous sketch from Val! Really loved this one, but squished all the elements together into the middle of the page.

Kat

Since this sketch was based off of one of my previous layouts, I decided to flip it around some, so my new page would look a bit different from the first one.  I am pretty happy with the end result!

Katherine

I love a sketch and this was no exception, and I stuck pretty closely to it.  I created my own background paper using a doily stamp, some kraft paper and white ink, and then just layered up all my pieces.

Kim
Petra
This is my Goofy son playing Rudolf the red-nosed reindeer. The swedish  title Knasboll is sort of similar to Goofy.

All supply is from You Do and Canvas Corps except for the stencils which are from Crafter's Workshop.

It's great that we all created something a bit different with it, hope it gives you lots of inspiration to create your own take.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish you a very Happy Christmas from everyone at The Studio!
See you next year!!

2nd Dec - Layers

It's now December, can you believe it?! A new month means it's time for a new challenge!
"The weather is getting colder and we bring out our winter clothes... layer upon layer to keep warm... make a page with lots of layers"

Anna
I like using layers on my pages so I started with painted rings, stamping and then layered up some papers and shapes.

Daphne

When we picked our day for our last visit to Stourhead this year, we knew two things: First, it was going to be a lovely sunny day; second, it would be freeeezing cold! So we did what we liked most: we layered us in lots of clothes! Like I did on the layout here on the left, right and top of the page.

Emi

I love layers so it wasn't challenge for me.
It was pleasure to work with this theme.

Jules
I'm sure you all know how much I love layers! This page was so much fun to make :)

Kat

I've been trying to use more layers in my scrap pages recently (all my favorite scrappers work with layers so well!), so I had a lot of fun with this challenge.

Katherine

I love layering and peeling back bits of paper to reveal layers underneath.

Kim

Petra
I choose this picture of my kids building a tower with grandpa for this challenge as they are building layer onto layer. In the end the tower was so high my Hubby had to lift my son to reach up to the top of the tower.

I used Pink Paislees PortFolio collection together with some PP, stars and clouds from Studio Calico, some Twine, Thickers, prima mistables and some details from Teresa Collins.  The stamp is my own design using the Photocentric/Teresa Collins Stampmaker.

Valerie
I consider myself a simple scrapbooker but I love working with layers. I especially like to mix materials. On this page I mixed die cuts with patterned paper, stickers and paper tape. I got a little assist on my page design from one of the December sketches from Simple Scrapper:

We would love to see how many layers you put on!! Link up your creations, we would love to see them!

18th Nov - Sketchy

Valerie has come up with another lovely sketch again for us this month, it is based on a layout Jules made for a previous challenge.
Here are the design team's takes on this sketch:
Anna

This is my take on this great sketch, I turned the tags into parcels to go with my photo!

Daphne
I visited my parents and my brother's family in October and it happened to be one of my youngest niece's birthday! This was the opportunity to take some family shots like this one. Although the title says "3 Generations" - there are only two in the photo! But I promise - there were three generations at the party that afternoon!

Emi

Jules

Sketch challenges are definitely my favourite, loved working with this one :D

Katherine
I love working off a sketch and this months was no exception, it was great as I had been thinking about trying out a page with lots of tags on, so I got to have a go....and incorporated a few more.  This is a typical birthday photo in our house, where once the presents have been opened the kids then get to work on the lego first!

Kat
I always love Valerie's sketches so much.  This sketch was no exception.  Because I liked it so much, I ended up sticking it to it pretty closely.

Kim
I've changed the title placement a little from the sketch.

Petra
I love this photo of my DD in a glitter dress and football shoes hanging upside down.
When I found this whimsy PinkPaislee Portfolio words and decorations I saw the perfect match.

Tessa
I love a good sketch! I chose my photo, then which "tags" I wanted to have in the background. The far right piece is the back of some Studio Calico packaging. The rest of the elements flowed from there.

What would you create with this sketch? Make sure you link up your creations as we would love to see them!

4th Nov - Die Cuts

Everyone up for a new month of challenges?! Hope so as today's challenge is to use die-cuts on a layout. Either use your electronic die-cutter, manual die-cutter, punches or store bought die-cuts.

Here's what the design team created for this challenge...

Amanda

I used my Silhouette Cameo to create my die cuts from patterned papers. Cutting files are from Lori Whitlock and papers/stickers from Jenni Bowlin Studio.

Daphne

I don't have any electronic die cutting machine - but I do have a BigShot and tons of dies and punches! But for this challenge I thought: Why not using up the existing die cuts you get with kits or collections? Here we go: die cut doily, die cut stickers, die cut vellum, die cut fabric, die cut sequins, die cut chipboard, die cut puffies, die cut alphas and other die cut embellishments!

Emi

I am not the owner of die-cut machine so this challenge was a bit coplicated for me. I found few punchers and I made circle punches and I also used doily lace which has already been die-cuted.
And that's how it looks now. :)

Kat

I had a fun time with this one.  I am currently enrolled in a Studio Calico Silhouette class and I figured I should put some of my new cuts to good use.

Katherine
I loved delving through my dies to choose some for this challenge and went with Tim Holtz tattered leaves and also some leaves from a Spellbinders rose kit.  I layered up the leaves behind the photo and then stitched a string of them too.  For those that don't know what PGL is - it's an outdoor sports place that lots of schools take the older children away to. They do all sorts of activities and can use high ropes, and big swings...needless to say my son wanted me to document it in a page - he loved the trip.

Petra

I really enjoyed this challenge (partly because it was my idea but) mostly because it made me pull out the dusty Silhouette and forcing me to make my ideas real. I have been watching all Cameo users recently and loving the looks of cuttings and thinking my old Silhouette wouldn't due. It does... still going strong, stillmaking me happy.
I used it for cutting out the title adorable face paint. I used Crafter’s workshops stencils with distresses to make the background and the amazing Teresa Collins Tell Your Story Collection and Studio Calico Wood Veneer Stars to get that little extra.

Tessa
Being a newbie to the Silhouette Cameo machine, I decided to try a simple floral design as an accent to my fussy-cut flowers. I also used the same cardstock to cut my title, helping to balance my page with the kelly green color.

Valerie
I was challenged this week with no electricity and as a result, no use of my electronic die cutting machine. I was glad that there is such a wealth of great pre-die cut product out there. I was able to put this page together in no time. I used die cut frames from Studio Calico and some printed die cuts phrases and arrows from Pink Paislee.

As always please link up your creations in the side bar to win a great prize! We would love to see what you cut out!!
