21st July - Sketch

Hope those of you in the UK haven't melted in this heatwave we are having! Hot hot hot!

Today we have another lovely sketch created by Valerie to inspire you!

Here are the design teams take on it:

Anastasia
I loved my nephew's photos wearing the sunglasses of his mother. With the big sunglasses and the pacifier I couldn't help thinking he looked like a baby rock star (or a fly as his other aunt said!). To support the theme I went with the "hard" colours of black and red, used used quite a lot of black glitter and embellishments like stars and sunglasses.

Sketches challenges are one of my favourites - they are such a good starting point for your page and I really enjoyed this one ☺

Sketch Challenges are one of my favourites! Having a rough plan of what to do but still be able to alter it to fit your own style and supplies is just perfect for a scrapper like me!
And that's what I came up with:

I rotated the sketch and therefore was able to use two portrait photos instead of landscape ones. I went with the circles (I used a mask and acrylic paint) and most of all the other features.
Blues combined with yellow and white are my favourites at the moment and I think this bright layout really lifts the disastrous state of the lighthouse!

The company I work for has a mountain cabin, located at a ski resort,  we may rent at a very good price. My family has stayed there a few times, and we really do appreciate the place. As there is no internet at the cabin, unless you want to go via the tele company, and just a few TV channels, we get the chance to do other activities , like puzzling.
Journaling: "When the internet access is limited, and you have just a few TV-channels, it's a good idea to do some old fashioned activities. M at Beitostoelen March 2013"

I love a sketch challenge it makes scrapping so much quicker for me!  I used lots of my woody scrapbook supplies to compliment the woody pictures.

Can the Lady still jump? Yes she can!

We can't wait to see what you do with this sketch! Don't forget to link up your entries for a chance to win some twine.

7th July - Twine

Thanks to everyone who joined in with the blog hop and left such lovely comments, glad to hear you enjoyed it!

On with today's challenge! We challenge you to get creative with twine! There are so many different types of twine out there and lots of possibilities for using it so we would love to see what you can do with it!

The design team have done a great job with this challenge, here is what they did with twine!

Anastasia

Baker's twine is one of my favourite materials and I have small pieces in many colours, so I decided to go with a rainbow layout to use as many colours as I could.

I cut circles in various sizes, added glue and then starting from the centre I added the twine round and round.

I then added various small embellishments to fill in the rest of the space.

Twine is such a fun item to use of your pages and there are so many ways to use it!  I've used it in my title, as a background feature behind my photos and also some natural twine around the mason jars ♥

Daphne
Some sunshine for you today? No problem at all! Some curly waves as well?! Here we go!
I went mad with twine this month! To shape the waves I added some stitching around them first and then filled them with the baker's twine. The sun is technically a chipboard ring with twine slung around it and cut to the same length; and a bit of multi-coloured string to fill it!
I normally don't do scenes on my pages, but this time I just went for it and I really love how it showcases my three favourite Instagrams from our holiday in Cornwall a few weeks ago!

Journaling: Skills you have learnt well, you don't forget either: like biking, swimming - and crocheting.

I love twine, and since I'd just split a massive pack of twine rolls with my Mum it was great to dive into all the colours.  I like to use twine to wrap things, so I wrapped my hearts with twine and then used the twine to hang my hearts from the photo.

Petra

I ♥ Twine, and I have since I first laid my hands on it. I think it is the perfect accessory to make a page complete.

This page is about a vacation filled with crab fishing {Krabbfiske} .

To catch the crabs we use pins and clams. I made a crab stamp in two different sizes just for this page and tied the twine to 2 mini clothes pins

I also added some twine to the border and stitched it down.

I decided to add some hidden journaling to remind me about this vacation at Strömstad last summer.

Hope that's inspired you with lots of creative ideas on how to use twine on your layouts. We would love to see what you came up with as always so please link up your creations to the side bar. If you do you could be in with a chance to win some more lovely twine to play with!
