31st December - Looking forward

Good Morning, welcome to the last challenge of 2017!

Today we are challenging you to ...
31st December- Look Forward; as it's New Year's Eve I want you to look forward to the new year, what are you looking forward to or hoping for in the new year?

Here is what our DT came up with ....

In Germany everyone does their own fireworks at midnight. I created a layout with some pictures of these fireworks and added several new year wishes.

I used this star circuit to represent hope. I am looking forward to being myself and never stop dreaming and to always be scrapping for my children and family members.

I used a free cut file from the Paper Issues store to make the title for my page and backed it with some patterned paper from Pink Paislee/Paige Evans' Turn The Page collection. Plus, I created my own background using mists and some packaging and finished it off with embellishments from the paper range.

Helen's process video for this layout.

Please link up your layouts to the side bar, we would love to see what your looking forward to for 2018.

Happy New Year!
I hope 2018 is a good year for you all.

17th December- Sparkle and Shine

As it's almost Christmas, today I challenge you to use...

Sparkle and Shine; I want to see your layouts with things that shine and sparkle this could be glitter, metallics, gems or anything that shines or sparkles!

Here are the design teams take on this challenge....

I backed this beautiful xoxo cut file from just nick with light green glitter paper!

I use mixed media to create this layout.I use sequins and Convex powder to let it sparkle and shine. You can try it!

I think I may have gone a little crazy with the sparkle and shine in this layout. I even made my own glitter paper by covering spare cardstock with glitter tape and then I die cut some leaves from it. Pop over to my blog (my name is the link) if you wish to watch my process video.

I've added lots of foam, glitter Thickers to my take for sparkle and gold stitching and sequin stars for shine.

We would love to see what you create for this challenge, please link up your layouts to the side bar.

As this is our last challenge before Christmas I would l like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very

See you on New Year's Eve for our last challenge of the year!

3rd December - Sketch

Good morning everyone and Happy December!
Our first challenge of this Christmas month is a sketch. I created this one to hopefully inspire you to get creating.

We welcome three new members to our Design Team today Denise, Helen and Lisa-Marie.

Please welcome...

Hello , I’m Denise and I live in southern Germany with my  family. I have been a scrapbooker since I got my first camera when I was sixteen. I decorated my albums long time before I ever heard the word “scrapbooking”. Ten years ago, I was infected with all the possibilities of die cutters, papers, stamps and embellishments. Last year, I started with mixed media and up to now, I like this style: a little bit neat, a little bit messy. I am really excited, to be a part of this design team at the studio challenge blog!

Visit me on:

I was inspired by the crosses on the sketch and decided to create a layout with these funny pictures of the kids playing with the "Ambu"-man...

Please welcome...

Hi, I'm Helen and I'm from Perth, Western Australia.  I have been scrapbooking since 2002 when I first got introduced to this wonderful hobby. I used to scrapbook clean and simple double pages, however, over time my style has morphed more into a messy mixed media single page one.  I also like to create YouTube videos as a source of inspiration, well I hope others find inspiration and don’t just laugh at my Aussie accent. In my craft room I scrapbook, make cards, create mixed media canvases, art journal and paint abstract paintings. Really, I enjoy anything that feeds my creativity. By day I am a primary school teacher and by night a single mother to teenage twin boys.

This is Helen's take on the sketch...

And last but not by any means least, please welcome....

Hi!  I'm Lisa-Marie and I live in Durbanville - which is in the Western Cape, South Africa.  I am widowed and have a precocious, delightful, awesome 7-year-old daughter (who you will see on a lot of my layouts!)  I have been scrapping for about a decade now and it's safe to say that it has become my absolute passion (and therapy too!).  I am fortunate enough to not work, so you will find me in my little scrapping room Monday to Friday, pretty much from dusk 'til dawn.  Most of my work comprises single page layouts, but I do enjoy off the page / altered projects and mixed media canvases; and I have been known to dabble with card making, tags and art journal pages too.  I serve on four other Design Teams currently; and I am BEYOND thrilled to join The Studio as well!  My scrapping tells stories - I don't just do it for the art.  My poor daughter will have to buy a rather large house one day for all the albums, canvases and such like, I have to pass on to her!!  For the past two years, my New Years resolution has been to create more art - so far so good, onward and upward from there.  I'd love you to follow my scrapping journey over at my blog - - and my older work is over at  I also have a Facebook page -  Scrapping continues to evolve and there is SO much inspiration out there; what a privilege it would be for me, if I could get to inspire you too!

Here's Lisa-Marie's take on the sketch...

The sketch is essentially a cluster of elements that are centered towards the left and middle of page . . . so that's what I did!

We hope these lovely layouts have inspired you to join in with us, please link up your finished layouts to the side bar.
There happens to be three challenges this month so you have until the 14th January to enter so even if your December is looking a bit busy you should still have time to enter!

Happy Scrapping!

19th November -Own background

We have a nice easy challenge for you today! It is...

Create your own background; anyway you like, you could use stamps, mixed media, cut files or anything you like to create a background for your layout.

This background I use blue and purple watercolor、a little white gesso and use net stamp to complete.Than use bee grid die cut and cut some stars from pinkpaslee's paper then put title to complete. Hope this can inspire you.

I've played with mists and paints, done some stencil work, and grounded everything with a leafy cut file for a subtle approach to the challenge.

Hello there! For this challenge I chose to use cut files from the Silhouette online store. These days, I seem to love working with wreaths. The hardest part was hand-cutting the card stock to fit behind the flowers and leaves. Otherwise this is a fairly simple layout that I was able to put together in no time!

We would love to see your own background layouts, please link them up to the side bar you have until 3rd December to enter this month's challenges.

We will have even more inspiration for you next time as we will have new DT members joining us, can't wait to see what they create!

Happy Scrapping!

Sunday 5 November 2017

5th November - Mirror Image

5th Mirror Image; create a layout using a mirror imagine so both sides of your layout is the same as the other.

I have to admit that I started this one out with good intentions, matching patterns sideto side.  I even tucked a tag into the bottom outside corners of both photos and chose a floral die cut perfect for the occasion, but I struggled to carry the mirror image idea through to completion.  I won't make excuses.  I'll just let you decide for yourselves.

Hello! I took a bit of creative liberties with this challenge. I didn't exactly make a mirror layout, but everything I did on one side (top/bottom, left/right) I attempted to match on the other side. Also, since this is a mixed media layout, it's almost impossible to make it "exact". I had fun playing with my new gelatos and papers from Pretty Little Studio.

You have until 3th December to enter this month's challenges, please link them up to the side bar.

Thanks to everyone who entered our design team call, I will be in touch shortly.

Happy Scrapping!

22nd October -Sketch

Sorry for the delay, we have had a storm and I have no internet so I'm currently borrowing some!

It's sketch time again here at the Studio. For today's sketch I was inspired be Hannah's Tic Tac toe layout.

Here are

I love how easy this sketch . . . at least for me. I've been making "complicated" layouts lately and this one came together so fast!!!  Hysterically, I have three different titles going on because this photo is the center of so many events. It's my son's birthday, he has the best smile and it's Fall.  I am forever grateful for my little man.

Guest Designer -Marie
Here is my layout for this month’s sketch challenge. I’ve recently lost a lot of weight, nearly 5 stone! To celebrate the ‘new’ me, I decided to do this layout. My photo matched the Prima Rose Quartz collection perfectly. You will notice that I altered the sketch slightly by placing my paper diagonally rather than horizontal. I loved all the layering and clustering on this one. I used die cut flowers, and stamped and embossed one of my favourite flower stamps onto vellum, then cut them out. I splattered rose gold paint over the background and added black lace under the photo along with some inked doilies. I cut out lots of feathers from one of the papers, snipped them along the edges and ‘fluffed’ them up to make them appear more realistic. I dipped the Prima flowers into the rose gold paint so that they blended well with the background. I’m really pleased how this page came together. I love the new me and I love this page!

Thanks to Marie for this month, it's been a pleasure having you.

Don't forget our design team call is now on, you have until 4th to enter it, we would love to see you enter.

8th October - Colour Pallette

We have a lovely, warm colour pallette to inspire you today ...

Imagine from Colour Pallettes

This colour challenge inspires me to combine it with fall. I stamped and cut a few leaves to decorate. I used the photo from when we visited a farm with my family last week. We fed goats with grass, it was fun. It was really a wonderful day.

The color scheme "gave" me a wonderful excuse to break out some fall patterned papers that I purchased last year. I have been reaching with my creative outlet these days in making large die cut backgrounds. I just love how this looks. Thanks for stopping by today!!!

Guest Designer - Marie Willetts

I used inks and some bubble wrap as a stamp to create the background. Underneath the photo, I layered book paper, die-cut doilies, fabric leaves and some tangled thread. I also tore strips of corrugated card, dampened them, sprinkled chocolate embossing powder over and heat set. This made them look like tree trunks! I used the same embossing powder on the branch and added more leaves. The resin owl has been inked to blend in with the colour theme. Finally, I added broken tooth picks in a criss-cross shape to emphasise the ‘natural’ feel of the page.

I hope you enjoy using these colours in your layout, we would love to see how you get on so please link them up to the side bar when you are finished.

Watch out for a Design Team call coming soon!

I hope you manage to fit in some scrappy time this week, enjoy!
