9th Oct -Sketch

It's time again for another lovely Sketch - I was inspired by Yasmina's previous mood board layout for this sketch.

Here are the design team's take on it...

Ewelina
I really liked this sketch as it made me think long and hard about how I could 'play it my, mixed-media way'. I used stencilled design instead of the across-the-page banner and a string instead of the circular embellishment. I also used black stone flat-backs to mirror the scattered embellishments. It was much fun! I am looking forward to seeing your interpretation of the sketch!

Rachel

I love this sketch and decided to go very soft and pretty. I look forward to seeing your take on this sketch.

Susanne

It was the narrow off center band and the scattered embellishments that I really like about this sketch.

I hope this has inspired you to give this sketch a go, we would love to see your takes, please link them up to the side bar.

Happy Scrapping!

25th Sept- Watercolours

Today's challenge is....
Watercolours- we want you to use watercolours on your layouts; we would love to see you get the paints out but if you can't do that you can use watercolour papers instead.

Ewelina
Watercolours - one of the vital products I use in my layouts. I was so happy to see them as the main theme for the September challenge. For this page, I used more paint than usually: white, dirty pink and bright pink; I mixed and layered and sprinkled. So much fun!!! If you'd like to see the whole process, I have a video tutorial on my YouTube channel.

Jinny
My hubby surprised me with a set of Kuretake's Gansai Tambi Watercolors last fall, and I haven't been able to put them down since.  I love them so!  The soft colors, that I used for my background wash here, show up much better in real life.  I also added them to those bitty stamped flowers for a little more interest with the perfect color match.  I had so many beautiful pics of this special day for my daughter, that I couldn't possibly even get them into a two-pager.  My pocket pages came to the rescue for the overflow.

Rachel
The use of water colour paints or water colour effects are right on trend in scrapbooking right now and I love the amazing array of different effects you can create. I look forward to seeing your 'water colour' layouts.

Susanne

I thought a soft watercolor background would be a splendid canvas on which to show a photo of the first colors of fall.  I kept most of my elements pale and neutral, except for a couple of punches of pink.

I hope that's inspired you to get your paints out! If you do use watercolours we would love to see your layouts, please link them up in the side bar.
Happy Scrapping!

11th September - Frames

Today's challenge is...
Frames - use a frame or frames on your layout; it could be framing your photo, your page or using lots of frames, whatever you like.

Jinny
I had such fun mixing a combination of chipboard, acetate, and printed frames, mostly Polaroids, here!  Every one of them came from a past Citrus Twist kit.  I just love to use up fabulous goodies that may never have found a home otherwise without such a great challenge.

Rachel
I love frames especially when I have used a patterned paper or 'busy' cut file as it adds definition and ensures your photo remain the focus of your layout. I look forward to seeing what you all create.

Susanne

Small frames need small pictures of small people, I think.  Look at this layout and let me know if you agree.

You have until 9th October to join in with this month's challenges.

I hopefully you have all seen our design team call on our previous post, if not please take a look; I would love to see your entries!

28th August- Mood Board

For today's challenge we have a lovely Mood board to inspire you, it was created by DT Member Rachel.

Most of my creations have been rather masculine and dark recently so seeing this bright pastel mood board was just perfect for me. I whipped out my pink mists and colourful flowers and let the creative juices flow. If you'd like to see how I arrived at the result, I have a video on my blog. Really looking forward to seeing your work.

This has got to be one of my all-time favorite palettes!  So, obviously, it inspired much of my take, but I also had to tie in a vase of blooms and some woodgrain elements against a scrumptious field of white.  Nearly everything you see here came from a Citrus Twist kit at one time or another; and a lot of watercolor work, in addition to the background, gave life to Avery Elle's Peonies stamp set.

I loved this mood board and how my layout turned out. I did had a few pops of yellow to my layout also.

I just love this colour combo and I hope you will too!

I thought kraft made a nice backdrop for lots of pink and a little teal. Do you agree?

A lovely moodboard for this challenge! So I decided to use a lovely photo from my two kids.

Guest designer - Cathy Lu

You have until 11th September to join in with this months challenges, we would love to see what you come up with from our sketch or this lovely mood board, please link them up to the side bar.
