22nd May - Mood Board

 Today's challenge is a ...
Mood board, it was created by DT member Lydia.

It has a lovely bright and summery feel to it. Here are the design team's layouts;

My little niece is a little ray of sunshine so she was an easy choice for this mood board, I have fun creating a mixed media background for this layout with the colours featured and added glittery Thickers, flowers and the word sunshine too.

The main thing that hit me when I saw the mood board were the glitter jars. All I could think of was...how do I incorporate tonnes of gold glitter into my page? And then it hit me - flower stencil as a base! And the rest is history... hahaha What was your inspiration from the mood board?

I really love Lydia's moodboard because of the color palette. The Bo Bunny Sweet Life papers were fit to it perfectly. I choosed one photo of my Mom what was taken during her first visit in Slovenia. We went up to the Bled Castle to see the wonderful view. This is why I choosed the triangle shapes (remind the hills) and the title.

Obviously, I was inspired by the "YOU ARE MY SUNSHINE" phrase in the bottom right corner of the mood board, but I also pulled in the array of soft colors in the bottom left corner and the flowers from the top left.  The paint brushes and their trails of paint drew me to get a little messy with gesso, watercolors, and acrylic paints; and I couldn't resist adding plenty of shimmer and shine as inspired by those glittery jars in the center.

Paint and the colour palette were the main inspiration that I took from the mood board. I did have to add some flowers too and the title with the word 'sunshine' just for fun!

I loved making this months mood board and I hope you enjoy creating with it. I actually in fact was challenged to make a layout with it, but I got there in the end and I am really happy with how my layout turned out. I used mostly the stunning Maggie Holmes "Bloom" collection and I also got a little messy with the bright yellow paint in the background. Can't wait to see all your creations!

What a fab mood board Lydia! I have used a mixture of Dear Lizzy's Fine and Dandy  and Happy Place collections to create my layout. How stunning is this cut file from Silhouette design store! I hope you will play along with us and I look forward to seeing all your creations x

I worked with pictures of the various expressions of my nephew.
In the background there is two sheets of paper.(Pinkfresh studio)
Most of the decorations were using the product of companies from Pinkfresh studio. Flower die cut is Pubble inc.

The pretty pink bloom, gold glitz and "you are my sunshine" phrase are what caught my eye.  I started with a bold floral paper and then toned it done with a large black title and a small triangle print.

I love these colors: teal, yellow and pinks. My daugthers made a shooting photos last week. So this picture with the yellow dress was perfect! Gesso, Twinkling H2Os, stamps and flowers are my fave at the moment.

I think the design team did a great job with it, I hope they have inspired you to join in with us. You have until 4th June to join in.
We look forward to seeing your layouts!

8th May - Diamonds

Today's challenge is about....

Diamonds- We want to see diamond inspired layouts! It could be the shapes, the word or gems, it's up to you!

Ewelina

I've used a Rebecca Baer stencil to create the diamond design in the corners and a Silhouette diamond background file to build a double-layered frame for the photo. I think the rainy photo matches the mood of the page perfectly. It was so much fun working on this challenge. I am looking forward to seeing your creations.

Flora

I documented very very fresh memories. Yesterday I have celebrated the National Scrapbooking Day first time in my life. I was in such a party mood. It was an amazing experience to scrap together with other talented people from all over the world. So I wanted to show this mood on my page. To reach this I used the colorful Pink Pailsee Fancy Free collection and few bits and pieces from Amy Tangerine Better Together. I added the diamond elemnets with hand stitching. The layout based on a sketch desgined by Laura Rumble.

I pulled inspiration for this challenge from the song Diamonds by Hawk Nelson.  The script on my page is the lyrics from the song itself, and my hidden journaling explains how being a mom is the most difficult job I've ever had.  Some days, I just want to throw my hands in the air and quit; but then, I'm reminded of this song and can continue on, resting in the assurance that, "The joy of the Lord, it will be my strength.  When the pressure is on, He's making diamonds," out of my kiddos and me.  I also added subtle, diamond stenciling and a diamond die cut.  The wood veneer heart, too, reminds me of the cut of a diamond, and I was sure to add lots of gold and sparkle.

For this challenge I knew the exact photo's I needed in order to use my title quote with the word diamond in it. Here is a very young me with my two dogs way back in 1990 enjoying a day out in Thetford Forest.
A few diamond rub on's were a must for me with this theme but how are you going to interpret the challenge?

Lydia

I used Amy Tangerine's and Dear Lizzy's new collection "Better Together" and "Happy Place". I did really enjoyed this challenge to include a shape that I don't normally use. I hope you enjoy this layout and I can't wait to see all your layouts.

Rachel

I have used a digital cut file from the Silhouette Design Store to create my diamond. I am a huge fan of the current trend of geometric shapes and paper piecing. I went super girly with this layout and used Pink Paislee Bella Rouge collection. I am looking forward to seeing all your creations.

Watercolor paints made by using a background.I used the cool blue colors.Using a variety of blue had fun.

Susanne

I used the simplest form of a diamond - a square set on its tip, and that element isechoed in the background too.  What kind of diamond will you use to tell a story?

Yasmina

For my layout, i used Papers, flowers and diamonds from Royal Menagerie Collection (Prima Marketing) and Twinkling H2Os for watercoloring the circles. I have a video tutorial on my blog.

I love how the design team chose inspiration from different areas. I hope that's inspired you to get creative! Please link up your diamond inspired layouts to the side bar, we would love to see them!

Hope you all had a good Scrapping day yesterday and got some scrapping done!
Happy Scrapping!
