Design Team Call 2013

Hello and welcome to The Studio design team call 2013!
We are looking for 2-4 talented scrapbookers to be part of this amazing team, to inspire others and make this great design team even better!

If you are one of the chosen few you would be responsible for:
  • A six month term starting from October.
  • You would need to make a layout every two weeks, which works out about 2 a month.
  • To comment on participants blogs
  • To blog about the challenge and our sponsor on your personal blogs
  • Be part of a team which works together to create ideas and to keep making The Studio even better than it is now!
But you don't get off that easy, I'm going to make you work for a place on our DT!! As I have a challenge for you to complete as part of your entry! The challenge is....
Create a layout about yourself. I think as scrappers we all love scrapping about other people but rarely scrap ourselves so now is your chance! Have you done something recently that your really proud of? Have you got a favourite photo of yourself? Everything goes as long as it's about you!

This is an international call, anyone can enter, doesn't matter where you live!

Please email your challenge layout, a link to your blog and a bit about yourself to me, Anna to: thestudiochallenges@gmail.com by 15th September 2013

Sound good to you? Go on you know you want to!! I can't wait to see your amazing entries! Good Luck!

18th August -Glitter

Today's challenge is about all things that glitter! We want you to dig out your glitter, gems, sequins etc and make your layout as sparkly as you can!

Anna
In Bristol we have painted Gromits, we took my nephew Gromit Spotting and came across the very glittery Gromit which fits this challenge really well! I went with the gold to match the photo, using everything shiny or glittery!

Anastasia
Glitter is not one of my favourite supplies I have to admit - not because I don't like it, but because of the mess that it can create (you can ask my cat Lola - she decided to lay on my experiments with glitter and she was sparkling for some time!).
So this time I decided I wouldn't avoid it and actually I did enjoy it quite a lot. For the glittery background I used stencil, mod podge glue, palette knife... and of course glitter. I added a couple of details i.e. stickles on the cat-paperclip and rhinestones.

Daphne
Feeling a bit lost? For this challenge I really did felt a bit lost - but I am quite pleased with the outcome! I really love using glitter (especially in the colder months of the year) - don't get me wrong - as long it is not the loose version which creeps deep down into your carpet, in your hair behind your ears and underneath your fingernails to live there forever!
So I decided to go for the "safe" version: Glitter Thickers for the title and yellow and pink Stickles dots as accents! And yes, it is all on a boy's page - everything is possible!

Hilde
Don't be afraid to overdo the glitter & bling: I have used glitter cardstock, some cutouts with glitter, sequin trim, individual sequins, glitter trim, bling and Stickles
Some close up photos:

I love the resurgence of gold at the moment, so for the glitter challenge I used some Crate Paper Ephemera, and then made a little vellum pocket of sequins, as well as my glittered thickers and a some glittery stickles on the bunting!

Petra
I went wild with gold on this page with lots of help by the borders from the Vintage Finds collection by Teresa Collins. I also added some golden letters and stamped a golden rose. Altogether lots of gold and glitter.

Supply:
Teresa Collins Vintage Finds
Crafter's Workshop Mask
Stamp made using the Photocentric/Teresa Collins stampmaker
Distress ink from Ranger
Gold ink from You Do

How strange that most of us ended up using gold glitter!

Please link up your creations to the side bar you have 2 weeks left to join in with us this month for a chance to be our guest designer.

The Studio is now on Pinterest so you can now follow us there too!

I'll be back next week with a design team call!!! You don't want to miss it! Who's up for joining this great team?!

4th Aug - Multiple Photos

A new month means it's time for a new challenge!
Today's challenge is to use three or more photos on your layouts!

The design team have come up with lots of ways to inspire you, here are our examples;

Anastasia
It's been a while I wanted to make a layout from the day when my nephew Andreas and my cat Lola started being friends (i.e. Lola asking for caress and 15-months old Andreas actually caressing her). So the 3+ photos challenge was the perfect excuse to finally make this layout.

Anna
I really enjoy using more photos on my layouts, sometimes you need to use more to tell a better story. I went for a grid of six photos for this layout about a day trip to the Devon as I had so many lovely photos from it to choose from!

Daphne
A multiple photo layout?! No problem for me! I printed out five smaller pics from my latest walk at the coast (Osmington Mills to Weymouth, Dorset) to sum up the day (and as an introduction page for my album).
I used a combination of different elements: papers, stickers, stamps, watercolours, mists and a bit of glitter!

Hilde
Sometimes I want to tell a story and use one photo only to emhasize it - other times I want to let the photos tell the story and the journalling is kept to a minimum.

Don't be afraid to crop the photos to showcase details, like faces or funny jumps:

Katherine
I am often guilty of not putting lots of photos on a page, so I love the 3 photo challenge and it was perfect to document a holiday game we invented to keep the kids happy in the car....it was surprisingly successful - they had to suck a sweet on our way somewhere and see if they could make it last all the way and then who had the most left when we arrived!

Petra
I am not a multi-photo scrapper, I simply want the space for decorations LOL. So I took my three photos and fuzzy cut out the lovely Alva. This way I had lots of space for my creative elements.
I used the Shabbylicious collection from FabScraps. I altered the chipboard pieces using a text stamp and some embossing powder.
I cut up a Prima floral vine to get it spread more over the page.

How many photos can you fit on a layout? We would love to see! Please link up your creations to the sidebar for a chance to be our guest designer for a month!
Happy scrapping!
