24th April - White with One

Today's challenge is...

White with One - we want to see your white and one colour of your choice layouts. (We will allow a little bit of black in accents)

Guest designer Bea
I enjoyed so much this challenge, even thought it was not easy for me at all. I use a lot of colors in my scrapbook process, and I like the colors' contrast on my page. My choosen color is gold. I wanted to add dimenzion for my white background, so I designed a floral background cutfile. The petals' and leaves' shadow draw a lovely pattens on my paper. You can download this free background file from my blog (click on my name). I hope you will enjoy it!

For this challenge, I decided to go pink and use a lot of texture (this is not anything new for me) but I also added some twine and a flare button (this is unusual for me). I enjoyed working on the white background as it helped me showcase the different shades of pink Heidi Swapp mists - how pretty do they look sprinkled all over the modelling paste design?! I am looking forward to seeing your creations and colour choices :)

Flora

What else could I choose for this challenge than pink as this is my favourite colour in scrapbooking? I love the spring at home and miss it so much. This is why I documented a beautiful tulip from my Mother's garden. Every flowers has a story there, it's just lovely.  I decorated my layout with branches what I cut out with Sizzix and Silhouette Cameo.

Jinny
I tend to struggle with monochromatic palettes, because they often make a page look flat.  However, playing around with lots of shades of the same color, in combination with mists and paints and loads of layers, seemed to diminish my trepidation.  I just love how this one, of my kiddos showing off a little of their Kansas City Royals fever, turned out.

Kerry

I thought I would find this challenge hard as I like to scrap with several colours. But I found that when I chose various patterns in my chosen teal colour I liked the effect just as much. Teal is my favourite colour to use in my scrapping at the moment, will you be choosing your favourite colour for this challenge too?

Lydia

Decided to change my style up and do a 8 1/2 by 11 inch layout. I Love how my layout turned out using bits and pieces from Dear Lizzy "Happy Place" and Crate Paper "Hello Love" collections. I hv to say this was defiantly a challenge as  love to use more than several colours.

Rachel

I have to say I did indeed find this a challenge! I have chosen pink and gone very girly for my layout. I just loved this digital floral frame cut file and think it is the feature of my layout. I have sewn on my layout to add some texture. I can't wait to see all your creations and what colour you choose!

This time the one colour I used was mint colour.(Heidi Swapp-sweetmint ink)
First, I created the ink droplets by blowing through a straw which made the pattern.
I like mint color. Which colour do you like?!

Susanne

I chose to use blue for my layout - it symbolizes the sky on a layout about spring.  I admit that it was in part so that I could use the new roll of washi tape with different shades of blue in it.  The title, being a bold shot black on page of placid blues, is meant to "awaken" the viewer.  Did it work?

Yasmina

My two children on this layout. Orange is one of my favorite colour.

I hope that's given you lots of inspiration to get you started on your White with One layouts. We would love to see what you create, please link up your layouts to the side bar.
Happy Scrapping!

10th April - Sketch

Today's Challenge is ....

...A Sketch - by Anna. Inspired by Susanne's hero layout.

Guest Designer - Bea

I took this picture about my little girl on a beautiful sunny day. She asked me to buy one more icecream after the two (!) portions she had already eaten. Yes, she was totally offended when I suggested 'no more icecream today'  She could eat this all day long!
I started my layout with the bright watercolor painting. For making the big title I used die cut letters. I was so happy when I find this strawberry and icecream embellishments from Dear Lizzy which are just perfect for this layout.

This sketch was a real challenge for me as it has so many elements that I never use in my pages: multiple photos, journalling, etc. I decided to embrace the multi-photo idea and went for a double of the same image; I also stuck to the diagonal layout and 'journalling' (which is a handwriting stencil). I'll be the first to admit that I really struggled with this one.  That is, until I added a third photo.  Then, while I hopefully didn't stray too far from the original sketch, it just all seemed to come together effortlessly.  I was inspired by the Basic Grey Saturday Morning ephemera, which came in my March Hip Kit Club Main Kit, to scrap some photos of one of the birthday outfits I made for my beautiful, little lady.

Kerry

Although these photo's are quite poor quality I still could not resist scrapping them to remember my eldest daughters 18th Birthday. I backed the banner cut background with glittery gold paper and complimented it with MME's On Trend 2 ephemera. The Happy Birthday wooden words were topped with 3D paint that dries with a soft hint of colour.

Lydia

I have used the beautiful Maggie Holmes "Bloom" collection with two photos of myself. I really enjoyed this sketch as I normally work with 1 4x6 photo. I loved how this sketch included little labels and hearts so I had a lot of fun playing round with them.

Rachel

I have used the lovely new collection by Amy Tangerine, Better Together. I don't often scrap multi photo layouts so I enjoyed this challenge. Head over to my blog for more information and close up photos.

The warm spring blooms are many flowers!Flowers make me happy.I took a picture holding a dandelion bloom on the roadside in the hand.So lovely~!I also love cherry blossoms. You like some flowers?

Susanne

I opted to flip the sketch to its mirror image to work better with a picture I really wanted to scrap from our recent spring break trip with our daughter. The center part of the layout is essentially the same, except the flow is now downward to the right instead of upward to the left.  That is the beauty of sketches, you can flip them every which way, and if you have already used a sketch, this give you a new way to look at it.

Yasmina

I choose these pics of my son. He loves making us crazy when we want taking a picture of him. The papers are from BoBunny, stencils from The Crafters Workshop and some Distress Inks.

You have until 8th May to link up your layouts for this month challenges.

Hope you enjoy playing along with this sketch challenge!
