Sunday challenge

Welcome to the first challenge of November.

This week your challenge is to create a page about friendship. Interpret this however you like, but there's a twist - you can't use any patterned paper on your layout!

Amanda: I decided to focus my layout on the friendship between my son and my brother. Lewis idolises 'Uncie Steven' and they have their own special relationship. Each year, my brother buys Lewis a new Liverpool football shirt for his birthday, with the number which corresponds to his age on the back. And each year Uncle Steven threatens not to buy it as he supports a different team :) This year Lewis was super excited to receive the number 8 shirt, which is Steven Gerrard's number - his fave player. His football shirt is always the 'most talked about' present :)

Anna:

No patterned paper here, I used patterned material instead! I had these lovely photos of my nephew and his best friend that I just had to scrap, they are adorable together! I cut some butterflies out of cardstock and then drew a swirly pattern on them with a white pen to brighten them up a bit!

Frienship is a great theme to scrapbook about. This suited well a picture i have from our October crop, with Cinthia, one of my best friends. we call each other sys or "mana" (a Brazilian nickname for sister). We know each other not for a long time but the connection was there - lol. Our life's story is very similar and we both have 4 yo boys called Pedro - isnt it fun?
As we joke that we are like the sex and the city group (including another friend of ours), ive made the layout title joking with this (the title is scrap in the city).

This challenge reminded me of just how much you can do with that staple of scrapbooking - cardstock! I altered the cardstock using a few stamps and inks. Added a transparency, some stickers and alphas for my title. I ended up with a page I love and there is not a whisper of patterned paper in sight!

Yesterday we took our boys to Legoland for the fireworks. They've only spent about an hour together before now so this was a bit of a test run for us to see how well they got on. We were pleasantly surprised. We had no tears, no tantrums and no fights (other than friendly ones when they were bought flashing swords!). They played beautifully together in fact so here's hoping that they are best friends in the making. I used stickers and mist to add interest to the cardstock, and a chipboard monkey too :)

I've used some rub-ons, tape, chipboard and those delish Jenni Bowlin butterflies to complete this NO PATTERNED PAPER layout! :) I love how the colors contrast against each other and the layout has a 'pop' factor. No patterned paper? No problem :).

For my project I focused on the friendship between my daughter and son. In the absence of patterned paper (my all time favorite scrapbooking supply) I added interest to the background with splattered navy mist then used punched medallion shapes in the same color as the cardstock. Some patterned washi tape and a chevron border stamp add a little bit of color.

This was a hard one for me as I am so addicted to patterned paper! So I created a butterfly pattern of the same tone and used a big butterfly rub on.
