15th April- Song Title

Today's challenge is to Scrap a layout using a song title.

The design team have picked some great songs to inspire you!

Anna

I choose the song title 'Can't fight the Moonlight' by Leanne Rimes to go with this photo I took of the moon and it's reflection on the sea.

Daphne

I walked round Studland Beach/Old Harry Rocks the other day and was deeply impressed by the cliffs down there! You just have to be "Scared of Heights" when you see this! So Morten Harket's new song was perfect for this photo I took two weeks ago.
I choose some really colourful papers, the new line by American Crafts/Amy Tan "Sketchbook" and I loved to do the splashes in both corners of the page!

Katherine

When I saw this photo  I knew the song title I could use - I'm still not quite sure what my son is laughing about, though I imagine he has just hit someone with a snowball :)  I've used a mixture of Crate Paper lines (Portrait, Farmhouse and Paper Party) and American Crafts and Echo Park for the title mix.

Jan
I chose "All You Need Is Love" by The Beatles.

Jules

I've chosen 'Little Lion Man' by Mumford & Sons for my title - the photo is of my eldest cat, who acts like he's a lot bigger than he is, so the title seemed appropriate!
I've used the My Minds Eye collection 'Follow Your Heart', which I purchased from this month's lovely sponsor :D

Valerie

It's and old song but it's one of my favorites. It makes me think of being on vacation in the 70's and sunny, happy days - like the one I focused on for my project:

Guest Designer- Monique

I chose Alicia Keys' song "New York, Empire State of Mind" (as I have soooo many photo of NY!!!).
I used some of my old OA stash (Road Map) with embellies from K&Company (the borders), LYB (clear cuts shapes & journaling card) and the Eyelet Outlet (NY cabs). Furthermore washi tape, Thickers from AC, Chicken Wire Template from TCW, glimmermist from Tattered Angels and lots of staples. And I used my sewing machine - of course!

A big thank you to Monique for being this months guest designer, we have loved having you and your fabulous creations as part of the team Monique!

If you join in with either of this months challenges you could win a £10 voucher from Craft Island to spend in their shop.
Which song would you choose? We would love to see so please link your creations in the sidebar!

1st April Challenge

Pinch, punch first of the month!! We are not fooling you, there really is a challenge today!!

Today's challenge is a little bit different!
We challenge you to create a layout which includes at least three of the things from this list:
Kraft
Twine
Die cuts
Ink
A Star
Washi Tape

You will get extra points for using all of them!!!

Anna
I got all six items in, I used black ink on the edges of everything, a nice big green star, a kraft tag, Baker's twine across the bottom of the photos, washi tape holding the photos and a die cut journalling spot!

Daphne

Last week I was off for a few days and so I drove to Studland Beach and took a loooong walk! I really was lucky with the mild temperatures and the sunny weather.
This week's challenge fits perfect to my beach photo I took at the end of the day: A bit of ink, some twine and the kraft buttons make me feel walking along the beach again when looking at this layout!

Jan
I love it when our kitten, Lucky falls asleep in the sun! How I wish I could sleep like that!
I'm not sure how, but I managed to get all 6 of the things listed on this simple layout!  The "dream" bubble was cut with my Slice and inked around the edges. I used kraft cardstock as my base along with a metal tag tied with twine.

Here are close-ups of the smallest, the stars and the tiny washi tape punched heart.

Jules

It took some doing, but I managed to get all 6 items on!

Katherine

Love the challenge and I had to try and fit all the elements into my page, so there is twine (on the die cut doily), stars (die-cut and buttons), washi-ish tape (Tim Holtz version and Martha Stewarts), die cuts (stars, doily and border strips), kraft (the doily and stars are die cut from it) and ink (distressing the edges, splattered and rubbed over my doily mask).  The photos are from a recent trip to Tower Bridge which we all really enjoyed, there are beautiful views across the river, the Union flag papers went really well with it too.

Valerie

Two of my favorite things: die cuts and washi tape. I used my Silhouette to cut the title and lanterns for this page. (If you've ever been on the tea cup ride at Disney, you've probably admired the pretty lanterns like I have.) Washi is so versatile. I used it here to add little banner flags and also to anchor the center panel of paper. Oh, and a little kraft and twine thrown in for good measure!
Here's a close up of my title die cut and small washi pennants:

Monique also managed to get all six items on her layout!

MoniqueLiedtke.JPG

Hi, I’m Monique Liedtke and I live in The Netherlands with my husband, 3 kids (Manon 15, Timothy 12 and Mats 7) and our Cocker Spaniel, Jippie. I started scrapbooking about 9 years ago and am totally addicted, there’s nothing I’d rather do! I don’t have my own scrap room, but I guess you could say I claimed just about the whole house, LOL! I would love to spend every day scrapping from morning till night, but as that’s not possible I work part-time in a small HR office in town.

My scrap pages are always full of colors and details. My favorite technique is sewing on my projects, both with the sewing machine and by hand. My favorite projects are mini-albums, but creating layouts is what I do most. I spend way too much time behind my computer hopping from one blog or online gallery to the next, on the lookout for fun projects. I love to participate in challenges and am very honored I was asked to be April’s guest designer for “The Studio Challenges”! At the moment I’m on the design team of Doodlebug Design and on the team of another manufacturer, but can’t tell you which one just yet! I’m fortunate enough to have been published several times, a.o. in Scrapbook Magazine UK, Scrap Art Zine (Germany) and Scrapbook Trends. If you want to see more of my work please visit my blog: www.moniquesscrapbook.blogspot.com.

Hope you had fun spotting all the items in the layouts!! How many items could you fit in?
