20th May - Favourites

Today's challenge is all about favourites but not quite as you might think!

What is your favourite product and technique to use when scrapping?

This is what we as the design team choose.

Anna

I don't know about you but I have lots of favourite products and techniques so it was hard to pick! I did quite a few in the end, some of my favourite products, white cardstock, Thickers, paint and buttons! Some of my favourite techniques dry brushing paint, leaving white space and clustering!
I used the lovely 'Photo Op' kit from Quirky kits.

Daphne

My favourite products? They are changing all the time - but at the moment you see a lot of my layouts with cameras on it! My favourite technique? I looove to sew on my layouts! It's like the last finishing touch to every page.

Jan
I have had a serious crush on My Mind's Eye papers and embellies for well over a year now and I don't see it going away anytime soon.  :)  And as much as I love them, I adore SRM Stickers equally as much!  Easy to use and they have a sticker for every occasion!

On this layout I used Happy Birthday Sentiment stickers on the banner pieces and large numbers in white directly on the photo.  The majority of the patterned paper is My Mind's Eye with a little Bo Bunny for good measure.
My favourite technique is to sew, either machine or hand stitching, on my layouts. Here I've used my machine to stitch down the banner pieces.

Jules
I really enjoyed this challenge! My favourite product is chipboard - I love it for adding dimension to a page, and my favourite technique is layering - simple but effective :D I took inspiration for this layout from a fabulous one by Maggie Holmes for Studio Calico.

Katherine

A great challenge....favourite things, there are a few on this page.  I love using inks and mists, especially for little inky splatters, I am also loving chevrons, doilies and mixing up my alphas.  Here it is all on one page using the Charming range from Echo Park and a photo from a camping trip last year where we sheltered from a light shower in the woods....and of course had to take a photo.

Don't forget if you enter the challenges this month you could win this lovely kit from our great sponsor Quirky Kits at Crafty Templates!

Please link up your creations in the side bar as usual, it will be great to hear what you are enjoying using at the moment!
Happy Scrapping!

6th May - Sketch

Thank you to everyone who joined in last month, we had so many lovely entries and we all loved looking at them!

Today we have a lovely sketch that Valerie created from one of her favourite DT layouts, she chose a layout that Jules created for 1st April challenge. Here is the sketch Valerie created:
The design team have lots of inspiration for you again this week!

Anna

This was a great sketch to play with! I made my layout using the lovely Photo Op kit from Crafty Templates!

Daphne

Hexagons!? Me! It really was time to get those dies out of my drawer and actually USE them (I bought them two months ago!). So the first (sketch)challenge of this month is the perfect excuse for getting them on a layout!

Not only I glued the hexagons down as they were, I also used them to make some pinwheels out of them - with six wings instead of four! Very effective, right?!

Jan

I love to use sketches!  Sometimes I follow them exactly and other times I use them as a starting point with the end result looking nothing like the sketch.  I stayed pretty true to this sketch although I replaced the little banner with one large wooden banner piece.

Jules

Here's my take on the sketch! My last two layouts have featured hexagons, so I thought I'd go with a slightly different shape this time, and used circles instead. I had great fun playing with all the lovely goodies from Leo at Crafty Templates, all I've added from my own stash is string for the bunting, the Thickers and the glassine bags for the confetti circles.

Katherine

Loved the sketch this month, another excuse to play with hexagons.  For this page I dug out my gesso, and sequin waste and lots of Echo Park This and That papers.  The shot was from the summer, of my son and his friends enjoying an open day at the local cricket club.

Valerie

I love the versatility of sketches and adapted this one to suit my needs. I was very inspired by the background shapes and the banner in the sketch. I replaced the hexagons with circles and changed the location of the banner slightly. Instead of one photo, I used a row of 3 wallet-sized photos.
