New Design team members!

Im delighted to announce the new additions to The Studio design team!
They are;

HeeSun Kim
My name is Hee Sun Kim and I'm from Korean. (MIYAKE called)

I live in Seoul, Korea with my father, mother and an older brother. My mother and brother are pastors!
It was 2009.
I found such a beautiful handmade card on the Internet while searching for collage techniques and images I could use to decorate my personal planner.
I was very much surprised to find out that there were so many people in the world making cards.
I am enjoying this craft to this day!
I am seeking a unique and vintage mixed media.
To express the feeling, I have used many materials and made various attempts.
I am continuously seeking inspiration, making an effort to share it, teaching students every day and making works.
I always enjoy finding new inspiration and sharing what I found.
Above all, I found a joy of my life through this crafts so that I am happy to share it.

Leslie Cornejo

Hello, my name is Leslie Cornejo, I'm Chilean, I have 33 years old, and I am social worker by profession, I am married and I have 1 small child named Santi.

All my life I've been curious in crafts, have gone through different techniques but had not found any that I liked so much, until in 2012 discovered the scrapbook and fascinated me.

Each design has special features that delight and inspire me for projects. Today my family is involved in this hobby accompanying me in time and space that makes me happy.
I think even novice in the scrap, but every day I try to find my style and perfection and my tastes, tratanto to make a line that fits me and I projected my taste, rather simple and clean.

Sindi Jeffers

My name is Sindi Jeffers. I am from the beautiful mountains of East Tennessee. I live in the middle of nowhere with my husband, little boy (who is suddenly not so little), 12 chickens (which we have to chase around the yard on a regular basis), and two very spoiled basset hounds (who are the cutest little things on four legs). I have been scrapbooking since 2002, when I was pregnant with my son. I wandered into a little scrapbooking store and was instantly hooked. My style is very eclectic and changes with my mood, but my pages almost always include paint or mist. I also love to crochet and spend a lot of time reading. When I'm not scrapping, I am a second grade teacher.

And I'm also really pleased to welcome back Tessa who is returning to The Studio!

Tessa Buys

I call northern California home, where three rambunctious boys and a brand new baby girl call me mom and my dear husband calls me "Tess". I joined The Studio community in 2009 and became a part of the design team shortly after that. I am excited to be back after taking a break to bring little Adlyn into the world. You'll find white space, layers, die-cut handwritten titles, a bit of mist and floral details on just about every layout I create, although I like to play and experiment from time to time, too. When I'm not playing with paper, I am teaching and choreographing dance at a local performing arts school.

15th July - sketch & colour

Today we have a special challenge as you notice we've moved our challenge ahead by a few days to join up with Stuck?! Sketches!

We have a lovely summery colour palette for you and they have kindly given us a great sketch to create with.

Join in with both the sketch and colour pallette and you can link up to both our blogs to be in with a chance of winner both prizes!

Cari

Last year I got my Diploma for Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language and never got to scrap this photos, but when I saw this colorful color combo and the 3 photos sketch I knew It was the time for use it. Really like because I fell the photos match de palette.

Last summer DS11 got his own boat, a small RIB. We live at the sea side and he has spent hours on his boat. But the RIB wasn't perfect for him - he wanted a boat with more room for friends and a boat more convenient for activities like fishing, so he sold the RIB this spring and got hands on a 10 foot dinghy. The dinghy looked as new, even if it was second hand. All boats, small or large, need polish before going in the water:

II flipped the sketch, and stayed as close to the colour palette as possible :-)

I just love this partnership, as I'm blessed enough to be a member of the talented team over at Stuck?! Sketches, too!  I found the bright palette uber challenging, but I think I pulled it off with lots of beautiful papers from Jenni Bowlin and October Afternoon and photos that fit it perfectly.  And my new coffee stain stamps looked just like the popped bubbles my daughter blew onto her page to boot!

Kat

I loooove the sketch and the color palett suits me perfectly. This is my page:

I made the background using lots of gesso, masks, stamps and mists.

I decorated with butterflies, flowers and pearls.

I used some A2Z Scraplet chipboards; a Butterfly Scribble Frame and a Beautiful-word which I painted with gesso, then with distress ink and finally I outlined with a black pen.

The background was created with The Crafter's Workshop stencil and Dylusions Ink sprays.

This month we are sponsored by Washi Tapes, you could win £15 worth of washing tape, how good is that?!

Make sure you hop over to the Stuck?! Sketches blog to see what they created!

June's Winner and Favourites

Hi everyone!  It was another month full of awesome challenge entries.  First, let's begin with a few of our favorites from the month:

We loved Rita's use of Project Life cards...the colors she chose to work with were just fantastic:

Kerry's use of triangles on her layout was truly inspirational...as was the accompanying post encouraging everyone to use their scraps!

June's winner was almost too close to call, but finally it was decided.  Erina did an awesome job incorporating triangles into her layout:
Erina , please email Anna at thestudiochallenges@gmail.com to become our guest designer for a month.

Don't forget to check out our Pinterest boards for more inspiration.  We post our sketches, the design team's work, but most importantly, we pin some of our favorite entries!

July's Sponsor

Our lovely sponsor this month is Washi Tapes!

Heres a bit about them:
We are a small home run company set up by an avid crafter to source washi tape before it really took off in the uk. We like to feel we offer a good range of tapes at competitive prices.

The lovely Anna from Washi Tapes has very kindily offered £15 of washi tape to this months lucky winner.

Now who doesn't love washi tape?! I know I do, I have bought from Washi Tapes before and I can assure you they are great!

For a chance of winning get creating one of this months challenges and link it up to the side bar, easy!

Watch out for the next challenge there is something a bit special happening!

6th July -Stamping

Everyone up for another challenge? Quite a easy one this time as I think most of us will have some stamps hanging around!

Stamping time to get your stamps out and get stamping on your layouts, how many stamps can you get on your page?

Anna
I stamped and cut out lots of colourful flowers and stuck them down the side of my photo and made a bit of a mixed media background, I think I used 6 different stamps in the end.

Cari
I really like stamping but never use them much and, of course ,I have a bunch that are brand new on my desk, so this time I use a lot of them for the first time! And as I never stamp the only ink I had was the black one, I bought pink, turquoise and light blue especially for this challenge! I decide to make a stamped background and I LOVE it, I think I'm doing it more often!

Hilde

I'm one of those scrappers who have lots of stamps, but who hardly ever use them. i have the best intentions, buy them - and then they just sit on my desk. But when I finally pull them out to play, I'm always happy with the result :-)

Here are the stamps used on this layout + I used one imaging screws (upper left corner and lower right corner)

Jinny
This challenge was made for me!  Matter of fact, it's rare that a page I create doesn't contain stamping.  My hubby and I are celebrating our 13th anniversary today, so, naturally, I hunted through my stash for pics of us and found these from just two years ago today.  I was further inspired by My Mind's Eye's Market Street: Ashbury Heights Collection and managed to tie eleven different, stamped images into my page.
  Kat
I've never been much of a stamper, although I don't really have a good reason.  I own a ton of stamps and will break them out occasionally.  For this one, I used quite a few stamps from my stash and created a background on which to build my layout.  I mixed in black ink with silver, purple and blue embossing powder.

Petra
I went wild with stamps this time. I used over 30 different stamps for my background :)
First I stamped with black ink all over the page.

Then I added some color using digress ink and masks.

The I just added some paper, some decorations, stickers and a Photo.
