16th Sept- Sketch

It's the second challenge of the month which only means one thing around here, it's time for another lovely sketch! Here is today's great sketch Valerie created
The design team have really gone to town with this sketch, wait until you see what they have all created!

Amanda
Created with the Ruby Rock-it Arcadia collection and my Silhouette Cameo

Anna
This sketch gives you quite a lot of room for interpretation which is great! I decided to make the circles bigger, I painted two of them on the page then added some twine around them.
I made my third circle using silver pen which you can hardly see in the photo of the layout as it doesn't like being photographed!
I love the finished result, thanks Val!

Daphne
It happened that I watched a lot of the Sailing Events of the Olympic Games this summer - and to capture these moments forever I made a layout about the Olympics' Greatest Sailor Ben Ainslie. The pictures for this layout are all from the official London 2012 website.

Ellie
This was such a fun sketch to work with. I actually was a bit inspired while I was baking some cupcakes and thought why not use the liners on my page! So I grabbed two of the liners and a dollie to highlight my baby girl who is just as sweet as can be.

Emi
I really love Val's sketches but I'm not a lover of circles at all so I put rectangles instead of circles.
This scrap is full of colors and full of energy because the photo was made during this Summer. It reminds me about those happy and crazy days.

Jules
I loved this sketch, and stuck to it pretty closely for my layout. Thanks for another great sketch Val!

Kat

I had a lot of fun with this sketch!  I flipped it on it's side and turned it into an 8.5 x 11" layout.

Katherine

I love Val's sketches and here is my take.  I used some beautiful MME papers and had a dug out my mists and paints to add some texture to the page.  The photos are from my son's birthday party - they aren't that great as they are indoors but in the smaller size you don't notice so much....and it had to be documented anyway!

Kim

Here's my version of Val's sketch. I <3 your sketches so much :)
I've used white crocheted doilies representing the circles in the sketch and the texture looks great against the soft feminine palette of cream and rose pink.

Petra

I wanted to document how much fun we had this summer cray fishing... we actually went cray fishing every single day on our one week vacation at Strömstad.
I misted 2 doilies and used as the circles on the sketch together with a print from Studio Calico. Instead of framing the entire page I did two edges. The title Krabbfiske means Cray fishing.

Tessa
I loved the circles in the sketch, but decided to replace the top one with an ampersand mask. The layout came together quickly, which is the sign of a fabulous sketch!

Valerie
I didn't stray far from the original sketch for my interpretation:

And if that wasn't enough here are a couple of the Ruby Rock-it design Team's take on the sketch:

2nd September- Numbers

As today is Amanda's Birthday, (Happy Birthday Amanda!) the challenge for today is all about numbers!
This is what Amanda is challenging you to do, she says 'It’s my birthday! I’m 29 for the 5th time! Create a page using numbers as a main element – a title, subject, design feature, whatever works for you.'

Here is what the design team came up with! We are also really lucky to be joined by some of the Rock Ruby-it design team this month too!

Amanda

Created using Ruby Rock-it Eklectique and glittered chipboard alphas.

Daphne

Numbers! I've always loved them (at least since I was a teenager) and using numbers as a title has two advantages for me: First, summing up the miles and kilometres I did that day when walking the South West Coast Path and second, using up the numbers from the alphabets which are normally left over!

Emi

I'm crazy about NUMBERS!
I love saving dates...
I love using them on my layouts.
That's why I love this challenge. :)
Mint and Red those colors inspired me this time.

Jules

I decided to use numbers as part of my background - and this sheet of paper from My Mind's Eye was just perfect!

Kat

I kept it simple and just used the numbers for my title.  Happy birthday, Amanda!!

Katherine

I love the number challenge, and having just got back from an amazing holiday I had to document some of the new experiences we had, so here are just a few.  Obviously whilst we were in the States I had to visit some scrapbook shops too so got to play with my new rolls of washi tape and stamps!

Kim
I've used numbers both as a design element and in my title. I have put together quite a collection of alphas over the years - some of them looking really tatty these days - so this was a great way to use up a few of those leftover bits. Loved this challenge so much.

Petra
So I love numbers and this challenge really got me going. I scrapped about a lunch at my house the other day with 9 kids and 3 mums. It is really no problem having so many kids at the house, it is much worse for example going to the beach... then I just keep on counting 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 and then again 1, 2 .., 9 over and over again to make sure they are all still there *LOL*

Tessa
As this posts, we are enjoying a long weekend away in celebration of our 10th anniversary, so I thought it would be only fitting to do a layout for this challenge about that huge number and what it means to me. I used an instax photo (that didn't turn out) as a background for clear number stickers to make my title. I also snuck a little "2" over there on the left.

Happy Birthday, Amanda!

Valerie

I love using type on my pages, especially numbers. Here I used some old Sassafras chipboard numbers for my title.

Erin Yamabe

Gina Lideros

Debbie Sherman
Debbie used Roman numerals for her numbers.

Ruby Rock-it are also kindly sponsoring us for this month so please link up your creations for a chance of winning some great new CHA Ruby Rock-It goodies!
